- Sample trial: Upstream
- Collect the buyer’s fluids, inlet and outlet temperatures, flow rates, working pressure, fouling or solids notes, quantity and destination. If drawings exist, cite the revision in the requirements box because the form has no upload control. Optional budget with currency and per-unit or whole-order basis can sit in the same narrative.
- Control boundary
- Ask each manufacturer which assumptions they quoted: approach temperature, pressure drop on each circuit, plate grade, copper brazing or gasket type, and whether cleaning is CIP chemistry, mechanical opening, or flush only. Tooling, installation, shipping, training and commissioning stay excluded until named. Connected load applies only if a packaged pump or fan is in the offer.
- Downstream
- Compare FAT documents: leak test medium, design pressure versus operating pressure, and whether a thermal performance check is offered at all. SAT at the plant uses the buyer’s flow meters and temperature sensors. Spare plates or gaskets appear as included or extra, not as an implied lifetime kit.
Assumptions manufacturers must quote: the same two circuits, the same fouling allowance, the same allowable pressure drop, and a named construction. Pressure drop and cleaning method must match that construction. Items quoted separately unless listed: site piping, insulation, lifting, export packing, FAT witness, SAT hours, training and spare parts. Public manufacturer leaflets are used as parameter language, not as proof that this service is a brand-appointed reseller.
